Research Focus

Stroke is a leading cause of disability and also causes discreet deficits that allow us to understand the mechanisms underlying brain function. My research focuses on the neural network dynamics that underlie recovery from stroke related deficits and how these dynamics can help us understand normal brain function.

Current projects involve:

  1. The comparison of differences in neural network adaptations after stroke in response to different types of therapies (bimanual vs. constraint induced motor therapy) as measured by fMRI.
  2. A comprehensive, electronic assessment tool and database for stroke related, particularly cognitive, deficits.
  3. fMRI "fingerprint" profiles during performance of a test battery.
  4. fMRI correlates of oxytocin neuromudulation of trust bejavior in normals.

Future efforts will involve computerized modelling of neural net adaptations during stroke recovery.
