Research Focus

Previous work has demonstrated several neuropsychological dissociations between different attentional processes such as monitoring, energizing, task-setting and inhibition, which seem to recruite distinct areas within prefrontal cortex.
I am interested in extending these findings from the level of single areas required for specific attentional processes to the level of the entire networks involved by means of neuroimaging techniques (fMRI and ERPs), and new tools to analize imaging data, such as Partial Least Square (PLS) multivariate analysis.
The ultimate goal is to understand how these networks change and reorganize themselves as a consequence of disabling events, ranging from normal aging to stroke.
