Excellence in Cognitive Neuroscience

Baycrest scientists have made major contributions to the knowledge of disorders that affect elderly brain functioning and mental health, such as Alzheimer's, dementia and stroke. From developing the world's first virtual brain to research on the impact of environment on the health of three-generational families, our work has shaped the fundamental understanding of human cognitive function, and will continue to impact approaches to the enhancement, preservation and remediation of cognitive change over the lifespan.

Collaborations between scientists at the Rotman Research Institute (RRI) and the Kunin-Lunenfeld Applied and Evaluative Research Unit (KLAERU) exemplifies the translation of knowledge from "bench to bedside". This multi-disciplinary approach in pure and applied science enables complex research from individual brain changes to the impact on the individual, the family and society.
