This presentation will illustrate how the group forces of cohesion and bonding have led to transformations in members of our spousal caregiver support groups, leading to empowerment, increased self-efficacy, improving coping effectiveness and a sense of community.
Educational goals:
By the end of the presentation attendees will gain insight about "The Changing Relationship" which is a unique and effective group that honours caregivers' strength in connection and exposes participants to the transformative power within each of us.
Learning objectives:
- Provide an overview of our caregiver groups
- Review the relevant literature related to group forces of cohesion, bonding, therapeutic alliance and group as a change agent
- Illustrate our groups in action through examples of how the power of the group allowed people to change
- Listen to live stories of participants' experiences in the group
