Learning Objectives:
- To review the evidence from RCTs supporting the efficacy and safety of more novel cognitive enhancers in Alzheimer’s disease, including β-amyloid immunization, tau aggregation inhibitors, mitochondrial membrane stabilizers, Gingko biloba, and multi-nutrients improving synapse formation.
- To discuss how these may affect the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease and how these approaches could lead to future medications affecting not only the symptoms but also the course of Alzheimer’s disease.
