High Performance Computer Resources

High-performance computing (HPC)

Rotman Research Institute researchers have access to the following resources:

Canadian Brain Imaging Research Network (CBRAIN)

CBRAIN accesses remote storage and computing resources of Compute Canada's High Performance Computing Centers (HPC), through CANARIE advanced research and innovation network infrastructure. High speed connections link our five Canadian centers for our regular data transfers and dedicated 10 Gbps Lighpaths allow us to develop real time 3D visualisation of very large brain models.

1. CBRAIN Project Objectives
The CBRAIN Project is an initiative to develop a platform for distributed processing and exchange of brain imaging data between five leading brain imaging research centers in Canada.

2. CBRAIN Technology Infrastructure

  • 87 universities, 103 colleges and 49 CEGEPS
  • 86 provincial and federal government labs and research parks
  • 60 hospitals and health networks
  • 32 cultural institutions
  • thousands of K-12 schools
  • 12 provincial and territorial optical network partners
  • 100+ international peer networks in 80 countries and other partners in Canada's innovation system.
  • ACEnet (Atlantic Computational Excellence Network)
  • CLUMEQ(Consortium Laval, Universite du Quebec, McGill and Eastern Quebec)
  • RQCHP (Reseau quebecois de calcul de haute performance)
  • HPCVL (High Performance Computing Virtual Laboratory)
  • SciNet
  • SHARCNET (Shared Hierarchical Academic Research Computing NETwork)
  • WestGrid (Western Canada Research Grid)

CBRAIN WEB-Platform
The CBRAIN web-platform is a web-based application that faciliates:

  • Distributed computing
  • Distributed data
  • Distributed users
